“In Nature”

„In Nature“, 2025
Mixed media on linen (reclaimed tablecloth), handprinted papers, textiles, saree silk pieces, lino cut prints, machine stitches, pearl

48 x 65 cm

This textile collage evokes a grounded stillness, where gesture and texture meet. At the heart of the piece, a white feathery mark—created with a self-made brush—moves across a background painted in earthy kaki tones. The brushstroke appears almost like a whisper, painted on cotton salvaged from an old pyjama. Throughout the work, delicate machine stitches trace the surface, subtly binding the elements and echoing the rhythm of handwork. In the left corner, a hand-carved linocut print anchors the composition, balanced by small fragments of jute and a single real pearl—once part of an earring. Echoes of Japanese boro tradition emerge through hand-painted paper patches, soft pink silk from a vintage sari, and layers of blue, arranged in a subtly asymmetric cross-shape. The work invites quiet reflection on impermanence, mending, and the beauty found in material memory.
