“Nothingness”

„Nothingness“, 2025

Mixed media collage on wood, handprinted papers, denim, saree pieces, lace

30 x 30 cm

In Nothingness, the symbol for “mu”—representing emptiness or the absence of self—is placed with calm clarity at the center of a soft peach background, offering a quiet focal point. Surrounding it, three pieces of lace trace a subtle visual rhythm, guiding the viewer’s gaze in a circular meditation around the central stamp.

A secondary lino print balances the composition below, like a whisper or shadow of the primary idea, reinforcing the quiet tension between presence and absence. Hand-painted paper and denim patches—intentionally mimicking the spirit of worn, repaired cloth—echo the boro tradition, where brokenness becomes beauty through mending.

This piece invites the viewer into stillness, offering not a void, but a space: an open field where nothing becomes everything.

“Nothingness” is part of the Series: “Echoes of Impermanence”, 2025

A mixed media collage series that explores traditional Japanese philosophical symbols through a tactile dialogue between material memory and aesthetic restraint. Each piece centers around hand-carved lino stamps representing essential concepts from Japanese Zen thought—such as nothingness, stillness, and non-attachment—imbuing the work with meditative focus.
