Layer by Layer, I Remember
A window scorched in sienna. A loop of thread still holding. A stone — clear, quiet, certain.
This piece is a meditation on eternity as presence — not endless, but enduring. Built from paper soft as breath, worn denim once lived in, and cloth that has seen the everyday, it carries memory not as narrative, but as texture.
Beneath tengucho veils and softened fibers, each element remembers something. A house once decorated. A blouse once worn. A piece of lace that caught light at a certain hour.
These are the remnants that resist forgetting.
Beneath the Thread is a series shaped by resourcefulness, tenderness, and the belief that beauty still breathes in what’s been worn through. This work is not about repair.
It is about witnessing. It is about what remains.
It is about the quiet act of holding something — layer by layer — so it will not disappear.
